From executing design detailing to project managing of the renovation of a HDB 5 Room Flat in Punggol Walk is finally completed and Visual Spaces is proud to share with you the wonderful process of transforming an empty space to a space you call, Home.
Our happy clients consist of a family of 4, a couple and their teenager son and daughter. The owner is a fan of owls and baking so she requested for a showcase to display her collection of owl ornaments from all our the world. Of course, a bigger kitchen with an island unit so that she can conduct baking classes in future.
We met at the site and saw that the Kitchen is really tiny which is not possible to fulfill our client’s needs to have a space for baking classes.
With the wall separation, we feel that it is redundant and wasting of space. With an island unit in mind, we advised our client to knock down the wall so that the 2 spaces are connected as one, thus, making it bigger and optimized.
BANG! After knocking down the Kitchen wall, the space is completely opened making the space bigger! After weeks of renovation and carpentry works, finally this space is transformed into a cool modern open concept Kitchen for this HDB 5 Room Flat in Punggol Walk. Let’s see the transformation!
An open concept Kitchen is done! Light and Dark mix of faux fabric high pressure laminate from Lamitak and quartz worktop was applied to this stylish Kitchen complimented by a custom design and fabricated wine rack with built-in LED lighting and also a magnetic gray painted wall which allows our client to clip recipes, teaching notes or even notes to the family using magnets! We also did a little personal touch by having custom printed and lasercut owl decals on the glass panels!
The living and dining room appears to be normal size as you can see from the photos below taken before the renovation:
As the owner prefers their living room to be spacious and brightly lit so we proposed a drop ceiling with cove lighting and down lights finished with a light colour homogenous gloss tiles with subtle wood grains. We began the electrical and ceiling works which took a few days to complete (Oops! We apologize for our topless worker there as it was a really warm day!) .
The tiling work began for the entire place after the ceiling work:
Well, the hard work was well paid off after a sort after cleaning and after TV console with showcases and dining feature wall with tinted mirror were installed.
Bathrooms are always the boring white/beige theme with typical border and bathroom fixtures provided by HDB. So, the owner decided to do a revamp and we overlay the bathroom floor and wall tiles which made it different!
As we moved on, the 2 bedrooms which belongs to the teenager son and daughter is a standard size bedroom. Visual Spaces gave a tint of colour to each room to make the room more pleasing with the off white paint as generic colour.
We gave the young man a very rich blue colour with matching sleek grey faux denim high pressure laminate wardrobe colour to display a masculine theme.
As for the young lady, we gave a natural grey wall colour with light wooden high pressure laminate to go with her lovely European inspired themed room.
Watch the video below after we have installed the LED light strip with sensor owner bought from IKEA with concealed electrical wiring:

A simple room which belongs to the couple appears dull before the renovation.
Nevertheless, by adding simple touches with the help of Visual Spaces Design Team to the Master Bedroom’s minimalist Bed head design with beveled mirrors and matching wardrobe, this space is transformed into a cozy love nest with added ambiance from the cove lighting.
The design and project team at Visual Spaces worked closely with our client to transform this simple HDB 5 Room space at Punggol Walk into a cozy space where they call, Home. Although the renovation is completed, our team continued to work with the client to source and style their home with decorative accessories which will eventually complete the entire work commitment we pledge at Visual Spaces.
